Our pressing Wired deadline hits in exactly four hours for now, so we’re scrambling. Thanks for putting up with our relative lack of thoughtlessness these past few days—we’ve had to dedicate the bulk of our mental bandwidth to Kenya-related matters, for the good of the whole Microkhan crew. As we lean for the finish-line tape, please enjoy the classic track above, from arguably the most underrated female rapper in history.

For someone without a lot of exposure, she did get around. I didn’t realize it until years later, but she was on the title track of the Roni Size/Represent’s drum & bass album “New Forms”. Brilliant flow.

Yeah, she guested on a lot of tracks. Whenever I put the digital collection on random, her voice pops up pretty frequently. But I don’t think she ever got the fame she deserved. Same goes for Last Emperor, who I remember seeing in D.C.
